History of USNA Parent Club of Michigan
The Naval Academy Parent Club of Michigan was founded in 1981 as a result of a conversation at the All Academy Ball. An Air Force Representative asked USNA Parents, Ed and Jane Wojtan if they would encourage other Navy Midshipmen parents to attend the All Academy Ball. They suggested that a Parents’ Club for USNA Parents might even be a good idea. The Wojtans spoke with several USNA parents at the dance and then met in their home for an organizational meeting. They received some help in the way of sample by-laws from the Parents’ Club of Arizona. Their first official meeting was held at the University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods in April of 1981. Ed and Jane Wojtan were elected the first Co-Presidents at that meeting.
